This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Sprint
I was once under the impression that data phones were for 3 types of people: business leaders, techies, and snobs. Although I would have loved to get my hands on one, I couldn’t justify a data plan + snazzy phone for my SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) status. Nor did I know that data phones offer so many helpful applications and organizational tools for motherhood.
Thanks to an opportunity via BlogHer, I’ve been able to try out a Samsung Moment. It’s a touchscreen phone loaded with Google Android applications including Google Talk (instant messenger), Google maps (with navigational capabilities), Gmail, etc.
So how has my Samsung Moment helped me as a mom?
A variety of ways…
~ Recipes in the kitchen without having to print a hard copy or look out of a cookbook
~ Pictures on the go and easy to share. It takes better pictures than my first point and shoot camera. (3.2 megapixel)
~ Calendars - I’m able to sync my husband and my personal and set up reminders for the event at the interval I choose (1 day before, 15 minutes before, etc.)
~ Navigational turn by turn directions and maps. (Lifesaver!)
~ Weather Forecast/Current Conditions for Any Location
~ Bible – multiple versions, subject look up
~ Toddler Lock – Allows the kids to “play” with the phone without causing any damage, all while they play with shapes/colors/music
~ Pandora – Streaming music based on your own preferences (Because good tunes can make your day.)
~ Connections – text messaging with a slide-out Qwerty keyboard, Twitter Applications, Internet, and very clear voice quality (you can’t tell it’s a cell phone)
And when in a real bind entertaining the quads there’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the SprintTV application.
The only real downside to my new Moment? Battery Life. (Which I hear is the downfall of ALL data phones.) I have to charge it everyday or more if I use it continuously. I’ve recently discovered that using wireless over the 3G and a task killer application helps reserve battery life.
Overall, I’m super pleased with the capabilities and connection perks that come with a Smartphone. And it all happened not a “Moment” too soon!
Here’s a MOMENT you don’t want to miss!

It would keep me connected by giving me a way to always stay in touch - and organized because I could have all of my important info right there with me all the time, and I could make changes right away.

I was just looking at this phone yesterday! I would LOVE this and the gift card could help make that happen. I would be able to use it to entertain myself when I'm nursing my son at night and also keep pictures handy to send to friends and family! Thanks for the chance to win!

Being connected to everything at all times makes me HAPPY!!!
I love this phone! My girlfriend has it and she raves about it. I have 3 children of all ages and I crazy schedule. This phone would keep me more organized and on time! Again, great program by BlogHer and Sprint.
I find that one of the most effective ways to communicate with my teen twin daughters is by texting. That's their preferred mode of communication, and sometimes I find that it is the best way to reach them. They are very active and on the go, and we could use texting to stay updated about when and where to pick up and drop off. They could send me reminders ... "Mom, I forgot my .... Can you bring my .... Do you know where I left my ...."

It would keep me connected because I would have everything at my fingertips. Numbers, recipes, internet, tv, etc.

Sprint Now Network would help keep me organized and connected by helping me stay in touch with my friends and family who live halfway across the country.

My husband and I are always fighting over my smartphone. Giving him his own would allow him to be as constantly connected as I am, and he's addicted to Pandora!
The speed of the Now Network from Spring would help me stay in touch with our relatives who live in various parts of the country.

We spend every other weekend with my in-laws at their house on the lake. They have NO internet access out there - not even dial up! It is ridiculous to me! I'm so using to being "connected" all the time that it drives me nuts to be without my email or unable to keep track of my twitter, ebay auctions, things I'm selling on amazon, etc! This would be so handy to take along with for those weekend getaways! Thanks for the chance!
mannasweeps (at) gmail DOT com
I travel a lot for work, and have family all over, so I constantly feel the need to stay connected. Thank goodness for my cellphone, but it can be hard to find net access, etc. So with the Sprint Now Network I could stay in touch with family and friends in my inner circle and not worry about feeling "far away" even 3000 miles apart. Thanks!

I've been limping along with an old (3 yrs) windows mobile device, which doesn't do all it is supposed to, let alone all the Samsung Moment is able to! I'd be thrilled to actually have e-mail, in addition to syncing schedules, pulling recipes, and keeping my contact list up to date!! I so want to try an Android phone, looked at one just this week. Very cool phone, by the way! (Do you suppose it would work as a supra lock box key? I'm a real estate agent!)
I am a teacher, so I could use this to help organize lesson plans!
The awesome device would really help me keep connected to my friends and family. Fingers are crossed I win this great gift card..i'll go out and buy it immediately!
now that i'm working a little part time after the quads go to bed...i'd love to have a phone that i could have Pandora on too.....music would make the work go faster!

I could use this to access sites that I'm not able to access during the day (oh, like twitter and facebook).
Well, and maybe to organize my thoughts!

Wowzers - yes please!!I didn't know you could do Pandora on a phone - how cool would that be?? I would especially love the navigation app since I am always always getting lost!!

It would help me get organized. With four year old triplets, I get distracted and forgetful. I would love to have contacts, a calendar and internet access all in one. Right now, I am stuck with a pay as you go phone and no fancy perks.
I could sure use a data phone to keep up with all the crazy appointments that crop up with my life with 3.5 year old triplets...Plus I could keep up with all the fundraising we are doing with March of Dimes and March for Babies!
I love the idea of being able to read the Bible on a phone during the day. That would be a great thing!
julielovesphotography@gmail.com
being able to keep up with everyone simply would be wonderful!!!
I'm toying with upgrading my phone. I *love* having a full keyboard, but there are times I wish I had internet too.

I love the idea of being able to access my full calendar, contacts, etc. while away from home!
Anything to keep Jackson occupied while in the car, waiting @ appts - ANYTHING would be SO helpful!
And the child lock - b/c some little boy likes to push the buttons way too much!
jennifermarker02@hotmail.com
I love the idea of being able to sync my calendar with my hubbys's that would be a life saver.
cardinalsfan0718@netzero.com
It would help me keep all the appointments and when bills are due correct! I would also use it do distract the girls if need be too!!!!
eaw00a@acu.edu
Syncing my calendars. not to mention being able to keep up with my daughters whereabouts as well. And to have my recipes at my fingertips would be a huge lifesaver when I'm in a kitchen rush.
I travel with my job 40% of the time. Opening up my computer, connecting to the internet (if available), loggin on, etc is so frustrating to write down dates, not to metion trying to coordinating activities for the kids (I have 3), date night, birthday parties, etc. The sprint now network would enable me to talk to my family more, schedule activities in no time without double booking, have easy access to pictures of my kids when I'm missing them. This phone would be a blessing.
Jenny
smiley530@hotmail.com
I am finally ready to "upgrade" to a data phone and am trying to make a decision on which to purchase now that our contract is up. So, I'm shopping around. I want/need a phone where I can plug in mine and my husband's schedule along with the 50 million things I need to be reminded of in regards to my 5 children's schedules. I also need something with a keyboard because my husband texts more than any teenage girl. That's his prefered way to communicate, so I need a keyboard so that I can type faster. Something that could entertain the kids would be a nice bonus, but honestly, it needs to be VERY user friendly because I am VERY technologically challenged!
My email address is on my blog. If I win the giftcard, it will for sure go to purchasing a new phone for this SAHM that is somehow never at HOME...since she's usually in the car thanks to her husband and kids..lol.
I have 3 kids including a set of twins, and I'd LOVE something to distract/entertain them without damaging the phone when I'm out and about, especially at the dr.'s office and the store. I feel exactly the same way, my SAHM status doesn't necessarily justify a data phone, but I'd love one anyway.

I think the one perk that you mentioned that would be the most used by my family is the Syncing of our schedules. Talk about a great help to a certain communication-impaired individual! (: Thanks! dnbrock at yahoo dot com
I think it would definately help me organize, as I just started a new photography business!
Having all my devices in one would so declutter my purse. No more calendar, mp3 player, camera, and cell phone b/c it would all be in one. And having a calendar that would remind me .... priceless.
Because using the Sprint network I could actually use Credo! Which we dont have in AK, but I'm moving to NC in August and am seriously considering switching!
wow-so many things I could do...not get lost, check my e-mail, entertain little ones while waiting for things, synching the family calendars, taking pictures of my brave little ones jumping off the diving board at swimming class and then send them all over the world and, of course, texting my 13 year old without hurting myself!
-Liz-bronxgirl722@gmail.com
OMG I have never heard of a phone w toddler block! my son always gets a hold of my phone and calls random people and does things to my phone that i can never figure out how to un-do. That would be SO helpful!!!
Syncing my schedule, kids schedules and husbands would be awesome! And toddler lock would be an added bonus!
The navigational system...I'm directionally challenged!
I love all aspects of the data phones. Keeping the children is a must in my household!

amy_jo1215@hotmail.com
the 'toddler lock' would be a superb feature. Little M (14 months) loves my phone but has done some damage to it, so a mode that lets her play would be wonderful!!

As an elementary school teacher and someone who still uses an "old fashioned" desk calendar and planning book, I couldn't think of anything more useful! To have the ability to have all my information for meetings, parent contacts, school calendar, student birthdays, lesson plans and personal appointments along with the ability to have the information travel with me from home to the classroom would be amazingly helpful. The ability to have a camera to capture a "special" moment in the classroom would also be exciting. The possibilities are endless!!!

I don't like to sit for hours and just browse but I do like to be connected pop in and out. Laptops are too cumbersome for that. This would be great.
How would an amazing phone like this be helpful to this SAHM to four little men? Let me count the ways: the ability to take photos/text(our current phone doesn't offer these features), the navigation would be so comforting when traveling with the little men, the ability to sync schedules with my super busy hubby, and to have an encouraging Scripture at my fingertips - Hallelujah! :)
while on my business trips!

This is truly an awesome phone. Our family could keep everything so much more organized and know where and when to be somewhere. With all the extra's it is a dream come true. Thanks
I like that the Moment has a notification bar that runs along the top and when you get a new email or other notification, it will sit up there. From any screen on the phone, you can swipe down from that notification bar and it will show you any missed calls, and what unread messages you have. I also like the fact that it pulls in your entire contact list from your Google/Gmail account.

The Sprint modem and network would allow me to stay connected on the go, which is all the time. Accessing emails is the most common thing. But Wyoming is a very rural state. This would allow me to access recipes for the night's dinner, check my social network sites and even access maps and directions!
manelook[at]yahoo[dot]com
I would love to be connected like this. I could check my email, listen to Pandora, and keep myself entertained while I wait in line at the bank, the airport, the doctor's office, or picking up the family.
I'd finally be able to entertain myself by checking email / browsing web on my phone while the kids play at the playground or library. Ah, to be connected with Sprint! As for organized, I'm not sure even Sprint could help me with that!
I have 3 year old triplets and due to the economy, recently had to go back to work full time. :( I'm the director of special education at a charter school. A data phone would keep me in touch with administration, the 6 special ed teachers I supervise, the 16 paraprofessionals I supervise, my schedule of meeting with parents, not to mention my husband's travel schedule, my kids preschool and other activites and that of our live-in nanny. I would LOVE keeping all of that info in one place. Please help!!
This would allow me to stay connected to the outside world, not to mention friends and family, during an upcoming hospital stay.

The speed of the Now Network from Sprint would help so much. I am a mom of 2 young boys 3 & 6 & I work full-time plus as an administrator over 2 care facilities. Not only am I out and about running around with my boys appointments and schedules alot, but so is true of my job as an Administrator. How the speed of the Now Network from Sprint would help me is that it basically would allow me to access my internet to keep up-to-date on work issues and family issues via my Email from anywhere that I am at. I'd also be able to access my internet for things like mapquesting a location I need to go to or looking up a product online that I need for my kids or for the care home & keep up on news and current events (as the internet is my main source of news). I'd be able to Tweet no matter where I am at (I love Twitter). I'd be able to take pics and share them quickly with friends and family. I'd be able to utilize my calendar& have it synched between computers & send a message to others to put it on their calendar. For me, it seems like there is never enough time in a day to do all that I want to get done, but with the Now Network from Sprint, I'd be able to get more done and utilize my time more efficiently, be more organized and stay in touch with others.

I would use this to take advantage of my time waiting for my daughter at all of her many activities! No more sit and wait, now it would be sit and work, email, sweep....be productive!
It would be great to be able to keep everyone updated during the frequent hospital stays my hubby has. And what a fabulous way to have a "real time" Grammie's brag book of our newborn preemie twins....what a dream come true!
I would love to use this for recipes! I have such a terrible time keeping my recipes organized in one place!

I have a chronically ill child (lung disease bronchiectesis as well as major gastro issues) and a 21 month old baby. Being one half of two full time working parents this phone would allow me to sync with my hubby (he has one for work), sync my own work schedule, keep appts handy and guide me on our two hour trips to Boston when this town girl is in the crazy city looking for medical buildings. Add to that the chance to entretain a 7 year old and 20 month old while waiting for appointments and I am in heaven!

I love my Samsung Moment. The ability to get 3 different e-mail accounts and everyone's calendars is soooo helpful. I have to say, I am guilty also of using it to entertain my son.
It would be a lot easier to stay in contact with my family and friends.

I already have Sprint and a blackberry but this would allow me to take my laptop to look at the pdf's someone tends to send on the weekends.
I love idea of sync-ing mine and my husbands schedule...oh and being able to occupy my children while waiting at appointments.
This would be a great phone for my teenage daughter. She does everything online or through texting.
It would keep me connected to my work email and calendar. I hate to lug my laptop around just for the access of these two things.
It would keep me connected by being able to access my work schedule, it changes daily and my appointments and being able to decide what to make for dinner and shop for the supplies!
