Girls night is best with a chick flick, freshly popped popcorn (not microwaved), a comfy couch, a friend or 2 and a diet coke. A side of chocolate always adds a nice touch ;0) Kids in bed, or gone from the house is a must for maximum enjoyment!

I've got weird friends, I guess. when we get together, we can all sorts of things... green beans, pickles, beef stew... we experiment. There's a lot of "doing" time as well as "waiting" time, all in the same small space of the kitchen. And, at the end of the night, we have something to show for our work- food to feed our family for months to come!

Girls nights are my FAVORITE!!! :) They make me so happy because its like medicine for your soul/body everything. When we have girl nights we always gather at a friends house have a couple of movies picked out to watch (most of the time they are put in but never watched because we just talk/laugh and everything in between haha!!) We normally dont have anything planned and just let it go as it happens. Normally we have lots of food (these smartsnacks sound like something we should try next time),lots of laughs and catching up with everyone.

I wouldn't necessarily call these 'healthy' - they have a lot of sugar and are higher in carbs then other snacks - but just the same they are tasty (I have them in my drawer at work) for a 'treat'.

Typically if I get a night 'off' I am not spending it IN, I am going OUT! Typically to dinner and drinks with girlfriends - no prep, no clean up, no pre-planning other than picking the time and place - it is a win-win for all!!!

Girls night in is easy - it is me and my 13 year old daughter with a copy of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Add in some these great new snacks and we are good to go! Oh and yeah - turn the phone off!

I treasure my "girls night" with my friends...my husband coined the phrase "hen party" for the event. We are all mom's of young children, so we always get together after the little ones have gone to bed. We eat, laugh, and talk about EVERYTHING - kids, marriage, God, struggles and triumphs! I love my hens! :)

Girls night in for me is one of two things: gossip, gossip, gossip OR gossip, combined with great girly drinks and wine, easy (and healthy!) food, all while sitting around a fire in the winter or out on the patio in the summer. Girls nights are the best!!

Depends how many girls. I like Movie Night with 2 or 3 gals. Spa Night, is great too.

But with a larger crowd, definitely Impromptu Supper. Each gal brings an ingredient. We look at what we have and figure out several courses to make. We've got a couple snide types who try to bring unusual ingredients or things they think won't work. Their offerings are often the most fun. (Not necessarily the tastiest dishes, but definitely fun to argue about.)

It's apparently a confusing idea. Newbies often bring a bottle or a 6-pack, maybe they bring a prepared dish like it's a potluck and then, there are those who come empty-handed. But usually first-timers jump right in and have a great time discussing flavors and cuisine. Even if they "don't cook", everybody eats and most people love to talk about what they enjoy or dislike.

If I ever had a girls night in..it would be scrapbooking and of course food!

September on June 29, 2009 at 9:42 AM said...

We celebrate with a whole girls weekend away in the mountains! We "say" that we're going to scrapbook nonstop for 4 days, but in reality, we talk, eat, scrapbook, snack, go to the beach, get pedicures, (no manicures, those would give away that we didn't spend ALL our waking time scrapping!), hike, sit in the sun, and enjoy each other's company. We often end up praying for one or another of our group who is down or ill, and end up having a wonderful, very fulfilling weekend of girlfriendship. :) It doesn't get any better!

Thanks for the chance to win!
